In this section, you can find the current versions of the Laws of Chess and other Regulations for which the Rules Commission is responsible.

There are two types of documents: the Regulations and the Guidelines.

The Regulations are official FIDE Rules. The same documents are available in the FIDE Handbook.

The Guidelines are best practices and indications to set a standard which is suggested by the Rules Commission: organisers, arbiters and players are encouraged to follow them to set some international standards valid in all competitions.

The Rules Commission is open to proposals; if you wish to suggest any change in the Laws of Chess, feel free to fill out the relevant form!
